We believe in empowering communities from within. Through locally-led initiatives, we work to bring about sustainable change and improve the lives of those affected by leprosy. Our comprehensive approach includes:

Community Empowerment
We support local communities through initiatives like community farming projects, providing opportunities for sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment.
Education and Opportunity
Education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and stigma. Our educational programs provide children living in leprosy colonies with after-school tutoring and nutritious meals, empowering them to pursue a brighter future.
Self-Care and Support
We empower patients to take ownership of their health and well-being through education and support. By teaching self-care practices and providing essential medical care, we help prevent permanent disabilities and promote overall well-being. Leprosy is caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium leprae which leads to nerve damage and loss of sensation.
A person who has contracted the disease cannot feel pain and is at risk of injury and infection, particularly in the extremities. It is pretty common for those with leprosy to have wounded and disfigured feet, and if left untreated, amputation may become necessary.
Our on-staff shoemaker provides our patients with special shoes to prevent further trauma and infection to their feet. Shoes are handmade and customized to meet the specific needs of the individual patient.
