At 80 years old, Kandasami still remembers when his laughter echoed across the fields. He was once known in his village for his strength, kindness, and devotion to his family. Farming wasn’t just his livelihood—it was part of who he was.
But at 40, strange symptoms began to appear—numbness in his fingers, discolored patches on his skin, and wounds that would not heal. What he thought was exhaustion from farm work turned out to be leprosy.
A Life Unraveled
The diagnosis changed everything. Fear replaced friendship. The community that once welcomed him began to turn away. With his health failing and his family gone, Kandasami was left behind—alone, isolated, and struggling to survive.
He took shelter in a small hut on the edge of the village, barely big enough to lie down in. Cooking or carrying water became almost impossible with hands weakened by disease. Many days, he had nothing to eat at all.

When Hope Arrived
Everything began to change when Embrace a Village found him.
Our team reached his door not with pity, but with compassion—bringing monthly provisions of 10 kilograms of rice, caring for his wounds, and offering warm conversation. Each visit brought more than food—it brought dignity, connection, and hope.
Today, Kandasami receives not only the nutrition he needs, but the reassurance that he is seen, valued, and not alone. His wounds are treated gently, his stories are heard, and his spirit is lifted.
A Message from Kandasami
With quiet gratitude, he says:
“I thought I was forgotten. But now, I am fed—not just with food, but with love.”
