In the peaceful foothills of Tamil Nadu, at the Embrace a Village hospice, two women sit side by side on the veranda. The morning sun spills across the floor as birds sing nearby, and in that quiet space, friendship blooms.
Suseela and Vijayamma were once strangers—two women from different villages, each marked by the pain and isolation of leprosy.

Suseela wandered alone for years after being cast aside by her community. Vijayamma, a mother of three, was abandoned by her own family when the signs of leprosy began to show. Rejected, forgotten, and left with nowhere to turn, they both found their way to the gentle care of Embrace a Village.
And there, something beautiful happened.
Within the walls of our hospice—where healing is both physical and emotional—Suseela and Vijayamma found each other.
Today, they spend their days in the comfort of community: sharing memories, laughing softly, offering prayers, and caring for one another in the simplest, most tender ways.
One such moment says it all: Vijayamma gently clipping Suseela’s nails—a task made difficult by weakened fingers. It’s more than hygiene. It’s dignity. It’s a profound act of friendship. It’s love in its quietest, most powerful form.

Because of your prayers and support, moments like this are possible.
At Embrace a Village, Suseela and Vijayamma receive nutritious meals, ulcer care, emotional support, and—most of all—a true home where they are seen, valued, and never alone again.
Your kindness creates more than healing.
It creates friendship, dignity, and belonging.
From all of us—and especially from Suseela and Vijayamma—thank you for being part of their journey.
If you feel led, we invite you to continue supporting stories like theirs. Your prayers and generosity sustain this sacred work.
