A Home Where Hope Begins Again

Stories

Some stories remind us that compassion often begins with something very simple.

Stopping.

Listening.

Choosing not to walk past someone in need.

That is exactly how Nandakumar’s story changed.

After losing his leg to diabetes, Nandakumar also lost the support of the people closest to him. Unable to care for himself and with nowhere to go, he was abandoned and left to survive along the roadside.

When the Embrace a Village outreach team encountered him during one of their regular visits to leprosy-affected communities in Tamil Nadu, they didn’t simply see another person in need.

They saw someone created with dignity and deserving of love.

Although Embrace a Village is best known for serving individuals affected by leprosy, our hospice also provides compassionate care for elderly and vulnerable people who have no family to care for them. For Nandakumar, that meant a second chance at life.

Today he has a safe place to sleep, nutritious meals, medical care, and a caring community that treats him like family.

His smile now tells a very different story.

Not because every hardship has disappeared…

But because he no longer faces those hardships alone.

Every day, the hospice staff offer practical care, encouraging words, and genuine friendship. The loneliness that once defined Nandakumar’s life has been replaced with peace, belonging, and hope.

Stories like his remind us that healing often begins with something deeper than medicine.

It begins when someone chooses to care.

To every faithful supporter who prays, gives, and shares the mission of Embrace a Village, thank you. Your generosity helps provide shelter, food, medical care, and dignity to people who believed they had been forgotten.
