Love is often measured by the big moments in life.
But sometimes it is revealed in the smallest ones.
A bandaged wound.
A bag of rice.
A new pair of shoes.
For Thilakam, those simple acts have become reminders that she is deeply loved.
Nearly twenty years ago, Thilakam was diagnosed with leprosy. Although treatment stopped the disease, it left lasting damage to her feet. Because nerve damage prevents her from feeling pain, even a small cut can become a dangerous ulcer if left untreated.
Yet despite the daily challenges she faces, one thing has never changed.
Her smile.
Nor has the unwavering love of her husband, who faithfully cares for her every day.
Together, they travel each week to Embrace a Village’s Thalaivasal Center, where she receives professional ulcer care to help protect her health. Every month they also receive ten kilograms of rice, easing the financial burden of putting food on the table.
Recently, another blessing arrived.

A new pair of MCR protective shoes.
These specially designed shoes are much more than footwear. They protect feet affected by nerve damage, helping prevent new injuries that could become life-threatening.
As our team carefully measured her feet and placed the shoes into her hands, her smile said everything.
She wasn’t simply thankful for a pair of shoes.
She was thankful that someone cared.
That someone remembered.
That someone was willing to walk beside her.
That is the heart of Embrace a Village.
We don’t simply provide medical care.
We build relationships.
We don’t simply meet physical needs.
We remind people they are loved by God and valued by others.
Because of faithful supporters, Thilakam continues moving forward with renewed hope, knowing she never has to face life’s journey alone.
Thank you for helping us walk beside families like hers.
