In a small village in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu, Bhanu, a 7th-grade student, carries dreams far bigger than her circumstances.
As the granddaughter of a leprosy survivor, Bhanu has grown up surrounded by poverty and stigma—but also by a quiet strength that refuses to give up.
Each afternoon, Bhanu walks to a place that has changed her life—the Embrace a Village After-School Program.
Here, she finds not just lessons and learning, but love. Teachers greet her with warmth, guide her with patience, and remind her that she matters. Through their care, Bhanu receives academic support her family could never have provided—and with it, a chance to dream.

More Than Lessons—It’s Love in Action
Every day, Bhanu is served a warm, nutritious meal—often her only complete meal of the day. To her, it’s more than food. It’s a sign that she is seen, valued, and cherished.
The encouragement and care she receives have sparked something beautiful inside her. She now dreams of becoming a teacher—hoping to guide other children like herself toward a life filled with opportunity and hope.
