Jameson’s Story: Three Generations, One Legacy of Hope

Stories

In a quiet village in Tamil Nadu, a story of remarkable strength and purpose is unfolding—a story rooted in suffering, but blossoming in faith. It’s the story of Jameson, a bright and determined 11th-grade student, who carries within him the legacy of a family transformed by the love and care of Embrace a Village.

Jameson’s life is deeply intertwined with the ministry that embraced his family long before he was born. His grandfather, Livingstone, is a living testimony to endurance and grace. At 79 years old, Livingstone bears the visible scars of leprosy, yet he continues to serve with unwavering dedication. For over 17 years, he has travelled to the remotest corners with the Embrace a Village team, offering ulcer care to those suffering in silence—treating wounds he understands too well, with hands that once needed the same healing.

Despite the physical pain that still lingers, Livingstone never stopped giving. His compassion became a light for others, and that light did not go unnoticed.

His daughter, Gladis Martha, was born with a disability, but like her father, she refused to be defined by it. With a joyful spirit and fierce determination, she now serves as a beloved teacher in Embrace a Village’s after-school program, pouring her heart into the children of leprosy-affected families. Children who, like her, just needed someone to believe in them.

Then comes Jameson—the third generation of this extraordinary family. Raised in Little Lights, the children’s center operated by Embrace a Village, Jameson grew up surrounded by love, dignity, and opportunity. The ministry became his safe haven, his extended family, and his foundation.

He watched as his grandfather, Livingstone, wrapped bandages with tenderness. He observed his mother, Gladis, show up every day to teach, laugh, and uplift young minds despite her challenges. From them, he learned not only how to survive hardship, but how to rise above it.

Today, Jameson is a beacon of promise. He’s actively involved in Embrace a Village’s after-school program—helping younger children and investing in his community, just as others once invested in him. Though his family still lives with very little—relying each month on the rice and tuition support provided by Embrace a Village—they live with dignity, purpose, and unwavering faith.

As Jameson moves through 11th grade, he finds himself at a crossroads. With two years remaining until college, he is earnestly seeking God’s guidance for his future. Through our career guidance program, our dedicated team is walking alongside him—mentoring, encouraging, and helping him discover the path that God has prepared for him. Every day, he prays with sincere hope that before his final year of school ends, clarity will come.

He knows his life is not a burden, but a calling.

Three generations. One story of redemption.
