A Family Finding Renewed Faith and Hope
Today we want to share how your generosity has impacted the life of Kirubaidas.
Kirubaidas is 86 years old and was raised in an agricultural family with no particular religious background. He grew up as one of seven children, and his life was dramatically altered when he was first affected by leprosy at the age of 16.
Unlike many who are abandoned, Kirubaidas’ parents cared for him faithfully and took him to several hospitals. During this time, Kirubaidas was still able to pursue his studies toward a medical degree. But in his second year, depression and complications from his wounds became overwhelming, and he had to discontinue his education. The wounds, stigma, shame, and pain led him further into isolation and fear. During that season, he went to the Leprosy Hospital in Chengalpet and stayed there for some time.
At the age of 40, Kirubaidas married Vasanthi, who is also affected by leprosy. They have two sons. Their first son is Kumar, who is 37 years old and has a disability resulting from childhood polio. He is married, and they have three sons. Their second son is Prabhu; he is married to Aarthi, and they have two sons—lots of boys in this family!
It was about 10 years ago that Kirubaidas came to know Embrace A Village from one of his friends. He says that he and his wife feel overwhelmingly blessed for this introduction to EAV! He and his family receive rice, medicine, and wound healing/cleaning kits.
Kirubaidas and his family came to know God’s love during these trying times, and they embraced faith and dedicated their lives to serving God. He told us that it is because of God’s work through EAV that he is able to live a respectable life despite the challenges of leprosy.
There is no way to know how Kirubaidas’ life would have turned out differently had it not been for your generous giving!
