Jay was given days to live…8 years later, he’s thriving

EAV, Leprosy, Stories

Jayachandran is a miracle.

Today, he is our prayer and worship leader.

Now let’s back up ten years.

When Jay was younger he drank a lot. He was a manager for a gas station and made good money, but everything changed in 2010 when he was infected by leprosy. Friends and family abandoned him.

It was so severe that people left food near the door for him to eat.

Doctors contacted EAV to help him because they didn’t give him many days to live. We gladly welcomed him and began caring for him with prayerful hearts.

Slowly, he began to improve. It was miraculous.

During that time, he grew deeply in his faith and chose to publicly express his commitment to God.

Jay says, “The life I have now is a gift from God, and I want to spend the rest of my days serving others, because He has done something incredible in my life.

Eight years later, he is fully recovered.

The picture above is Jay commissioning Jobin, a young man whose parents serve at our hospice, as he leaves for Italy to study car design. What a miracle both of these men are!

We are celebrating God’s goodness, and we invite you to join! Learn more about EAV here.
